Sky-House Co Shortlisted for the Inspires Award at the Sheffield Business Awards 2026

We’re delighted to share that Sky-House Co has been shortlisted for the Inspires Award at this year’s Sheffield Business Awards, hosted by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.

With a record number of entries submitted this year and exceptionally strong competition across all categories, being shortlisted is a fantastic recognition of everything the team has achieved, and a reflection of the partnerships and communities we’ve built across the city.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 15th October, from 6.30 pm at The Octagon Centre, Sheffield.

Why we were shortlisted

Our brownfield regeneration model brings back-to-back, freehold houses into the city, giving families and first-time buyers the chance to own a home without leaving the communities they know.

That model is already reshaping parts of Sheffield. Devonshire Quarter and Copper Street (also known as Little Chicago) are two of our brownfield city centre neighbourhoods, and both are heading towards completion in late 2026. Alongside these, our Waverley Central and Olive Lane developments continue to deliver the same vision of naturally sustainable, community-first homes across the region.

We’re now building on that success with plans for our third brownfield city centre neighbourhood, submitted for a new city centre community along the Porter Brook. You can read more about those plans here: Plans submitted for new city centre neighbourhood along Porter Brook.

Together, these schemes are helping to rebalance and diversify city centre living in Sheffield, delivering more houses in the places people want to live.

Partnerships that make it possible

None of this happens in isolation. Our shortlisting reflects the strength of the partnerships behind our work, including our ongoing collaboration with Placefirst, whose experience in build-to-rent and long-term community management has helped shape the way we deliver blended, sustainable neighbourhoods.

We’re also proud to be part of a wider shift in how Sheffield and the region plan for growth. For the first time in a generation, there’s united leadership and a clear, shared plan across South Yorkshire — supported by strong partnerships between the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, Sheffield City Council and Homes England. It’s this alignment that gives us the confidence and foundation to plan and deliver more ambitious city centre neighbourhoods in the years ahead.

Looking ahead

Being shortlisted for the Sheffield Inspires Award is a proud moment for everyone at Sky-House Co, from our site teams and design and technical coordinators to everyone working behind the scenes to bring these communities to life. It’s recognition not just of the homes we build, but of the role we’re playing in Sheffield’s wider regeneration story.
