Kers MVHR-W Heat Pump- User Information 

Introduction 

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing the KERS  MVHR-W unit, we are confident the unit will serve you well and reduce your  energy bills for many years. 

The KERS MVHR-W unit is an all-in-one domestic hot water heater and  extraction system. Warm air from the toilet and bathroom areas normally  extracted to outdoors pass through the heat exchanger where the heat  energy is harvested and converted into renewable hot water using heat pump  technology. 

Installation and maintenance works must only be done by trained trade  specific personnel. 

The unit maintenance cover houses moving parts and high voltage  components. The KERS MVHR-W unit must be electrically isolated prior to  and service / maintenance works. 

The unit is designed to provide domestic hot water and extract ventilation,  drawing air at room temperature from toilets, en-suites, shower / wet areas &  kitchens. We do not recommend drawing air directly from kitchen extract  system hoods. These systems should have a dedicated duct to the outside  of the building or if this is not practical a hood using carbon filtration

User Control Settings   

 

The KERS MVHR-W heat pump is operated using the push / turn control positioned to the right of the display. The background light will  automatically illuminate when the push / turn control is pressed and will  stay on for 10 minutes. 

On the LED display the top line indicates the function & the bottom line indicates the value 

Changing the settings 

Rotate the control to display the desired function, push control to select, then  rotate until the desired value is found. Confirm change by pressing the control  once more. 

Please note- some functions are information only and some are set up by the  commissioning engineer, these should / can not be changed by the user. 

There are only four functions a user should change which are highlighted  below

Timer Control operating times of heat pump 

Holiday function set up.  

This function reduces the water temperature while the user is on holiday  which saves energy. Rotate the control to display holiday, push control to  select, rotate the control to display desired duration period and confirm  change by pressing the control once more. If manual days is selected the duration  can be from 0 – 99 days. 

Setpoint set up.  

Rotate the control to display setpoint, push control to select, rotate the  control to display desired temperature and confirm change by pressing the  control once more. Once set the heat pump operates within a tolerance of – 3°C / +1°C around the set point value. 

Timer 

This function can be used to put the heat pump into standby for example  overnight. ( instructions at the end ) 

Legionella Cycle 

If the water temperature is 60 degrees or above Legionella bacteria cannot  survive. When commissioned the automatic legionella function will activate  once every week. 

Care of your KERS MVHR-W 

The outer parts of the KERS MVHR-W can be cleaned with a damp cloth using a mild detergent. Never use cleaning agents containing acetone, sand, soda, acid or chlorine, these are aggressive and could damage the surface. 

Pipework/ surfaces on the outside of the unit can burn if touched and there  are moving parts / high voltage components which can harm inside the unit,  the unit should be always inaccessible to children. 

Maintenance 

The KERS MVHR-W is a quality product that will operate and serve you for  many years. Servicing and maintenance should only be undertaken by trained &  authorised personnel.  

KERS offer a full 5 year parts and labour warranty tying in with an annual service  plan which can be initiated anytime within the first 12 months of service, please  contact our service department for more information.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO SET THE TIMER TO PUT HEAT PUMP INTO STANDBY ( OVERNIGHT ) FOR EXAMPLE 

1 – ROTATE CONTROL BUTTON ON MAIN MENU DISPLAY CLOCKWISE UNTIL TIMER OFF SCREEN IS  DISPLAYED. CLICK THE BUTTON AND “OFF” WILL START TO FLASH, ROTATE THE BUTTON CLOCKWISE  TO TIMER “ON” CLICK ONCE MORE TO SELECT. 

2 – ROTATE ONE CLICK CLOCKWISE AND THE DISPAY WILL SHOW THE CURRENT SET TIME.

3 – TO CHANGE THE TIME ROTATE ONE CLICK CLOCKWISE TO DISPLAY THE HOUR, CLICK THE BUTTON TO  MAKE THE HOUR FLASH THEN SET THE TIME AND CLICK THE BUTTON TO SAVE. REPEAT FOR  MINUTES. 

4 – ONCE THE TIME IS SET ROTATE ONE CLICK CLOCKWISE TO THE START HP SCREEN, BY CLICKING,  ROTATING AND CLICKING THE BUTTON THE START TIME HOUR CAN BE SET.

5 – REPEAT FOR START HP IN THE NEXT SCREEN TO SET THE MINUTES.  

*IN THIS EXAMPLE WE ARE SETTING THE HEAT PUMP TO START AT 9 AM. 

6 – ONCE THE START HP TIME IS SET ROTATE ONE CLICK CLOCKWISE TO THE STOP HP SCREEN, BY  CLICKING, ROTATING AND CLICKING THE BUTTON THE STOP TIME HOUR CAN BE SET. 

7 – REPEAT FOR STOP HP IN THE NEXT SCREEN TO SET THE MINUTES. *IN THIS EXAMPLE WE ARE SETTING  THE HEAT PUMP TO STOP AT 9 PM ( 21:00 ) 

8 – THE “DRAWDOWN” WILL BE THE STATUS WHEN UNIT IS IN STANDBY MODE USING THE TIMER  FUNCTION.
